Mel Lim is a Chinese immigrant who was born in Malaysia. She has a background in architecture and began her career building hotels, casinos, retail stores, and stadiums around Asia, Europe, and the US. From these modest beginnings, she fought on and founded Maspira Groupe, a design and innovation strategy agency that has won more than 100 awards. Mel’s multifaceted international experience in strategy and design helped technology firms grow from small, revenue-generating businesses to multimillion dollar businesses, solidifying their position as leading innovators and worldwide brands. Varonis, Semperis, Axure, LeEco, Tata, Intel, Comcast, Zeeto, London Jewelers, and Neato are a few of her esteemed clients.
Mel started a new endeavor in 2021 when she and her two boys co-founded Preston & Harrison. Motivated by social justice, this family business skillfully blends innovative design and art with cutting-edge fields of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and spatial computing. Mel has introduced ChateauzTM, an enterprise-focused spatial computing and XR analytics engine designed to enable the phygital paradigm in the Future of Work and Commerce by putting BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE at its center and address crucial adoption and scalability concerns.
Mel actively accumulates accomplishments through her initiatives. In order to assist individuals in deliberately rediscovering the importance of craft in creativity and experience design, she wrote the book Turtle Design in a Rabbit Age. She gives talks at prestigious universities including Stanford University, Microsoft, and KPMG on innovation, XR/spatial computing technologies, and women in leadership.
