Laurence Wen-Hung Cheng is a Chinese Businessman, philosopher and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine who was born in Taiwan.
He had the vision to build a truly international higher education institution that will adapt to the needs of each cultural environment: the Eastern, Pacific and Chinese countries, the European, the American and the Latin-American countries.
With the support of Prof. Dr. Deric Bircham, his step father, and Prof. William Martin, a European partner, he contributed and made possible the foundation of Bircham International Univeristy.
While managing several companies, he realized that hiring people with the adequate attitude was not easy. Distance learning became a selection tool, because those who completed an adult degree program demonstrated an indisputable level of willpower, responsibility, motivation, and competence. The specific skills he was looking for his future employees.
Although, effective education worked with different parameters when aimed to the working professional.
Bircham International Univeristy pedagogy was conceived to address those parameters.
What is important is what you know, and not how much you should study, or how you have acquired that knowledge.
A distance learning university should make things easy and not create obstacles.
Top distance learning higher education for adults.
Today, Bircham International University (BIU) offers over 270 distance learning degree programs in nine languages.
Curricula are designed to meet the needs of the adult student, without interfering significantly in his/her professional life.
BIU adapts each Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree program to the needs of each student, so each will study what they need and not what they already know.
“A good education should teach HOW to think rather than WHAT to think.”
