Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the management of the flow of goods and services, from the raw materials stage to the final product delivery, to meet the demands of customers. It involves coordinating and optimizing activities such as procurement, production, transportation, storage, and distribution to ensure a seamless and efficient flow of products from the supplier to the end consumer.
SCM encompasses a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, logistics, and e-commerce. The primary goal of SCM is to ensure that the right products are delivered to the right place, at the right time, and at the lowest possible cost.
SCM can be broken down into four key elements: planning, sourcing, making, and delivering. The planning phase involves creating a strategy to optimize the supply chain, while the sourcing phase involves identifying and selecting suppliers to provide the necessary raw materials. The making phase involves the actual production of the product, while the delivery phase involves transporting the product to the end consumer.
