The president of Optum is Heather Cianfrocco. With an emphasis on value-based care and the fusion of medical, behavioral, and pharmaceutical services, she is in charge of overseeing Optum’s complete pharmacy and care-delivery capabilities throughout the full care continuum.
In her current position, Heather is concentrated on the simplification and integration of our direct medical and behavioral care delivery in the office, ambulatory setting, home, or institution with our high-quality pharmacy services, including behavioral health, specialty, and infusion pharmacies, in order to make high-quality, comprehensive care more accessible and affordable for everyone we serve. Optum Health provides services to 103 million people, and Optum Rx provides services to around 63 million people, with an emphasis on providing the customer with the finest quality value-based care.
Cianfrocco is a member of the Women’s Leader Advisory Council, which fosters cooperation and community for women throughout the organization, and she serves as the executive sponsor of the LGBTQ+ employee resource group at UnitedHealth Group.
In 2008, Cianfrocco started working with UnitedHealth Group, where she held a number of executive positions. She formerly held the positions of chief executive officer of Optum Rx and chief executive officer of Optum’s Health Services, where she was in charge of managing medical benefit plans and providing solutions for population health issues as well as behavioral health benefits. Prior to that, she served as the chief executive of UnitedHealthcare Community & State, senior vice president of clinical transformation and health advancement for UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement, and the head of state and regional health plans. She has also served on the United Health Foundation Advisory Board in the past.
