As the average life expectancy increases, as do the number and proportion of older people in most developed and developing countries, a central question is whether this population aging will be accompanied by sustained or improved health, an improving quality of life, and adequate social and economic resources.
Adults over the age of 65 will account for 20% of the US population by 2050. The fiscal and policy ramifications of this demographic transformation are two of the most significant difficulties that federal and state governments confront today. Our healthcare system, its financing sources, and American families will face significant strain as our population ages. A lack of personal savings for long-term care, combined with a fragmented and institutionally dependent delivery system, will endanger the health and quality of life of aging Americans. To handle the various chronic illnesses prevalent in this vulnerable population, our healthcare personnel will need to be retooled.

From Loss to Purpose
Losing her grandparents at a young age deprived Dawn of the chance to have that unique bond as a granddaughter. This personal loss motivated her to enter the field of senior healthcare. Her deep passion lies in catering to the needs of older individuals.
Prior Experiences
Dawn formerly worked as the chief Medicare officer at Blue Shield of California (formerly known as Care1st Health Plan), serving over 400,000 Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries in California, Arizona, and Texas. She was in charge of all Medicare activities, including sales, marketing, product, revenue, and membership accounting, in her senior position. Under Dawn’s leadership, Blue Shield more than quadrupled its membership, increased its CMS star rating, and witnessed significant revenue growth. Furthermore, the organization saw a considerable improvement in member retention as a result of Dawn’s diligent efforts to strengthen Blue Shield’s corporate brand and identity assets.
Dawn formerly worked as the chief sales and marketing officer at CareMore Health Plan, where she oversaw the company’s historic development from 3,500 to 65,000 members and helped turn it into an industry leader in terms of membership performance and profitability. She also played a key role in reimagining the company’s identity and goals.
Dawn has also served as Secure Horizons’ Medicare vice president, where she was responsible for overall membership growth and retention across eight U.S. states, as well as HealthNet’s western regional vice president, where she provided guidance on new product offerings, growth, and oversight of group retiree business.

Whether this collaboration occurs in a physical office or a virtual space, her aim is for every member of her team to experience personal growth and triumph. She believes that the culture she fosters within the organization should extend beyond its physical boundaries, but there are also moments when everyone should come together to work harmoniously. The accomplishments of her team serve as a testament to their capabilities.
