She began her career as a wealth management intern at Merrill Lynch but later transitioned to a career in education. Christiana taught in the Bronx, New York, as a first grade and Kindergarten teacher at Carl C. Icahn Charter School 1 before moving to Abu Dhabi in 2016.

Her passion for helping others with dating and relationships, combined with her innate matchmaking skills, led her to establish her business. In a short time, her company has seen substantial growth and is eager to expand its services throughout Dubai and the UAE.
Below are highlights of the interview conducted between Christiana Maxion and Fortunes Time:
Describe who you are as a person, inside and outside of the workplace.
I’m definitely pretty much the same inside and outside of the workplace: determined, driven, and decisive. I would say, though, that people associate me with different online personas. I definitely have a different audience on Instagram than I do on LinkedIn, let’s say.
Tell us about the inception of the company. How did it all start?
It all started with a comedic Instagram account. I started documenting my dating experience in 2020, and people were really drawn to my empowered dating standpoint of dating with high standards and low expectations. Plus, it was a bit cheeky, so it gained some popularity. I noticed that people hated dating in Dubai (I absolutely love it) and would constantly request dating and relationship advice. I’ve always been a solution seeker and saw a need in the market for an alternative to what was currently out there. In all honesty, the most amazing people I have ever met have been living in the UAE, and I wanted to be the bridge that connected them.
With the introduction of new long-term visas, the amazing way the UAE dealt with the pandemic, and new laws promoting more freedom in dating and partnership, I decided to consult a legal team about the legalities of opening a professional matchmaking business here in Dubai. I got the green light in 2021, and we are now Christiana Maxion Solutions, offering elite matchmaking for high-net-worth men in Dubai, London, and globally with a 96% success rate and 40k+ database.
And now I’m a tech founder!! MAXION: Match & Meet is the first AI-powered social matchmaking concierge for ambitious individuals in expat-dominated cities in the GCC. Birthed from the 96% success rate of my core business of matchmaking high-net-worth individuals across the globe, MAXION will serve a much wider audience and create an exclusive space designed for accomplished expats to meet compatible friends and partners. We are mastering compatibility and concierge, so all you have to focus on is connection. In a city like Dubai, where you outsource everything, why not outsource your social life to the experts? www.themaxion.com

What are the most important aspects of a company’s culture? What principles do you believe in and how do you build this culture?
In my world as a millionaire matchmaker and tech founder, I’ve discovered that success isn’t just about innovation; it’s about the awesome people on our team. They’re the heartbeat of our mission. So, I started asking each person on my team, “What makes you feel the most valued?”
The answers were as diverse as they came—some loved hearing words of praise, others were all about gifts, quality time, acts of kindness, or some extra cash in the pocket.
This taught me that, like in love, understanding their unique “value language” matters. By appreciating them in their preferred way, we foster engagement, creativity, and passion.
So, here’s the scoop for fellow leaders: Building a culture of appreciation by talking in your team’s “value language” is a small effort that pays off big time.
What is the significance of innovative ideas in the company?
Being innovative is our top priority. But not just innovation for the sake of innovation; innovation that is member-centric and caters to the ever-evolving needs of our MAXION Members.
Give us your opinion on whether organizations rely heavily on individual heroics or team processes.
This will depend on the size and culture of the company. Right now, we’re a small team at MAXION, and processes are being built. I always take my team’s expertise and opinions into account, but decisions are made primarily by me as founder and CEO.
What are your responsibilities as the founder and CEO of the company? What is the happiest part of your daily routine?
EVERYTHING!!! I’m the visionary, the fund-raiser, the executor, the social media manager, the graphic designer, and many more.
What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
Listen to learn. The smartest person in the room is the one who holds the most knowledge and does not speak the loudest.
